Butterfly Kisses.. Okay Maybe Not....But a Butterfly Indeed!

So my kids had a toy car (a Matchbox one) that had a trailer on it outside for awhile. Well one day they found a caterpillar and my daughter put it in the trailer. The next time they looked inside the trailer the caterpillar had turned into a cocoon. I thought they had left it alone for awhile, maybe they did, who knows? But the other day when I came home, Paul said there was a butterfly in my house. Huh? Where would that have came from. (I had totally forgotten about the cocoon they had in the trailer) Finally my son says, "the trailer that Brianna had put the caterpillar in, look its on the table" sure enough, the caterpillar that had turned into a cocoon, had now turned into a pretty butterfly, and it was in my house.

See how pretty this butterfly is?  I am sad because it just couldn't possibly live in my house, so I made the kids let it go outside. It surely won't survive this cold weather will it? Idunno, I didn't research on how a butterfly lives or anything. I am wondering since it was in my house where its warm, could it have turned into a butterfly too soon? Again hmmm makes me wonder.
I really wished I would have taken a picture of the caterpillar, then the cocoon, but I had no idea my kids were having a science experiment right in my house. I think it is cool. But again, I feel bad for that butterfly.

This was the butterfly before he/she was sent outside. My son was told not to touch it, and go figure, he did not listen. So I hope he didn't ruin the wings of the butterfly.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this with all my readers.  I found it very interesting.

The Beautiful Colors of Fall

This is one of my favorite times of the year. Fall! (Not because the weather is cooling down) but because all the leaves are turning so many different pretty colors. And it only lasts so long until Old Man Winter is here. I do not look forward to that. I love Spring and Fall. Spring is beautiful because everything is blooming, turning green again, and gaining colors. (No need to go on about Spring, since we are far from that season.) And Fall is pretty because of all the different colors associated with this season. So it doesnt matter how big or small the plant or tree is, they all turn beautiful colors.
P.S. This is my tree in my backyard. Its only about 5 years old, and has some growing up to do. But its still so pretty to look out of my patio door at.

Peanut Butter & Co. Review and {Giveaway!} 2 Winners! Ends 11/18 (CLOSED)

So I am not sure if you knew this or not, but I love peanut butter. Yup I said it again. I will say it over and over again.Oh how I love it! Anyway, I am no stranger to Peanut Butter & Co. they have some absolutely great tasting peanut butter. I have been eating it for a couple years now and I can not stop. A flavor I had not tried yet (yes that's sad I know) was the Cinnamon Raisin Swirl, and the great people over at Peanut Butter & Co. were nice and sent me that flavor to try. Watch this.. It was amazing too. Which I already knew it would be. I mean come on. I am talking about Peanut Butter & Co.

I decided to try this great peanut butter on some toast for breakfast this morning. I'm usually not a huge fan of raisins, so at first I wondered if I had made a bad choice for picking this flavor. But nope, I hadn't. It isn't overloaded with raisins, but had just enough in the peanut butter to taste.

Peanut Butter & Co. makes a variety of peanut butters, including White Chocolate Wonderful (this is my absolute Favorite!) Mighty Maple (this is a good one too) Dark Chocolate Dreams, Smooth Operator, Crunch Time, The Heat Is On, The Bees Knees, Old Fashioned Smooth, Old Fashioned Crunchy, and of course the Cinnamon Raisin Swirl. They also make more than just peanut butter, like Cookie Mixes. Those are good as well!

From Their Website
Who didn’t grow up eating peanut butter sandwiches? We’ve taken it up a notch with our yummy all-natural line of ten amazing flavors. Try one, try all…we’re sure you’ll be dazzled and go back for more. Our peanut butter is kosher, gluten-free and vegan (except for The Bee’s Knees which is vegetarian).

If You Care Review and {Giveaway!} Ends 11/18 (CLOSED)

It has been a few years now since I have been trying to be Environmental Friendly. I feel this is a very important subject, and even more important we do this for our kids. I use as many green products as I can, and I recycle everything that my city facilitates for and allows. It makes me feel good that I am doing my part. So anyway, I was ecstatic when I found out about If You Care Environmental Friendly Products.

Our Products (from their website)

If You Care is committed to protecting the environment by producing high-quality alternatives to conventional kitchen and household products. The materials we use are specially chosen to reduce their impact on our environment. We use unbleached paper, recycled materials and wood and paper coming from sustainably managed forests. We replace petroleum based ingredients with natural and renewable resources. We use paper from pulp and paper mills practicing the highest levels of clean water management. Every care is taken to ensure that each step– from factory to store shelf – conforms to strict standards for the conservation and protection of our greatest asset – the environment.

If You Care has many different products to choose from, just look at the picture above! Now that won't leave a Carbon Footprint!

The very nice people over at If You Care sent me quite a few of their products to review. I must say, I absolutely loved all of them, and I'm so happy I had the opportunity to do so. Here is what they sent me.

100% Soybean Wax All Natrual Waxed Paper- Just like your mom's old favorite – only better! Made from unbleached paper and coated with 100% natural soybean wax, it's ideal for wrapping foods without affecting flavor. Conventional waxed paper is coated with paraffin wax – a petroleum based product. Soybean wax is clean, safe, non-toxic, biodegradable, and comes from a renewable and sustainable resource grown by American farmers, giving them an economical use for their soybean surplus.

Unbleached Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) Large Baking Cups- Made from the same material as our parchment papers, If You Care Baking Cups use premium quality unbleached greaseproof paper. Our baking cups use no chlorine in their production. And that means no chlorine is dumped into our lakes, rivers and streams. Available in three sizes – Mini (90 cups; 1.625in/4.14cm), Large (60 cups; 2.5in/6.35cm), and Jumbo (24 cups; 3.5in/8.89cm)

100% Recycled Aluminum Foil- If You Care Aluminum Foil is made with 100% recycled aluminum. While traditional foil manufacturing is a power-intensive process, ours uses 95% less energy to produce. Because there is no need to mine, our production creates less waste, while reusing a precious resource. If You Care 100% Recycled Aluminum Foil can be recycled again, providing your local recycling center accepts aluminum foil.*

100% Unbleached Paper Snack & Sandwich Bags- Made in Sweden from the unbleached pulp of Scandinavian spruce trees – a natural, renewable resource – If You Care Snack and Sandwich Bags are greaseproof, and provide a natural barrier which prevents grease or fat from penetrating. They are not treated with petroleum based paraffin wax or any other wax. Like all of our If You Care paper products, these snack and sandwich bags are totally chlorine-free, as a result of which, no chlorine is dumped into our lakes, rivers and streams. Perfect for snacks, cookies, muffins, nuts, chips, sandwiches and much more.

FSC Certified Parchment Paper- These premium quality FSC certified unbleached, greaseproof papers are perfect for a wide variety of baking and cooking needs. While some baking papers are coated with Quilon, which contains heavy metals like chromium that can be toxic when incinerated, If You Care Parchment Paper uses Silicone, derived from a natural element. It’s a much more expensive process, but one we feel is worth it for everyone. But perhaps most importantly, our baking papers use no chlorine in their production. And that means no chlorine is dumped into our lakes and streams.

Now, like I said before, I loved all of the products I reviewed, but the Baking Cups were my favorites! I decided to try them out first. These baking cups were really like no other baking cups I have ever tried before. I mixed up some muffins, and put the mixture into the cups, and I usually always spray cooking spray onto "normal" baking cups, but something told me not to bother with it this time. Wow! It was amazing, my muffins didn't stick to the baking cups at all. Now that is something new for me.
And here is the outcome....

Bryyn & Amie Good Karma Foods {Review}

Recently I came across a great company called Brynn & Amie they make Artisan Food and Gifts.

About Brynn & Amie (from their website)

Friends, and now business partners, Brynn and Amie have combined their diverse artistic and culinary talents to create brynn&amie artisan food and gifts.

brynn

Where to start...musician, real estate attorney, mother, 3rd grade teacher, residential designer, web designer, potter and musician. In some ways, I guess I've come full circle in my creative journey! While I've had several careers, and way too much education, I find that my heart is in creating. I've been singing all my life, but I came much later to the potter's wheel.

My studio is located off the garage of my home on the Outer Banks, and I go there to refresh my mind and ease stress. It's my space, and my creative self resides there. I love to open the door to the outside, let the ocean breezes flow through the studio, and listen to NPR or jazz and classical music while I work.

Times change. When it became clear that house design was not longer a viable career, my mother's friend told me to follow my heart. So that's what I'm doing.

amie

I can’t remember when I first discovered my creative self - it has always just been so. It is what I am. Music, art and theater were my motivation to go to school.

My first job was designing window displays for a department store. I’ve had a long career in interior design and had a boutique catering business. These were the perfect mix of business and creativity for me, but through the years I have allowed myself less and less time for more personal creative expression.

It was time for a change. So, in addition to my kitchen, where culinary adventures frequently take place, I took over a space tucked away on the top floor of the house and turned it into “Amie World”. The view is sky and tree tops. Sometimes I can hear the ocean. It is my get-away to paint and draw, sew, craft, peruse my cookbook collection, make a mess and watch QVC. This one small change has channeled a flow of creativity that I hope never stops.

The very nice people over at Bryyn & Amie sent me a few products to try.
The first product I tried was the Evil Nuts.

I really enjoyed trying these. I have never tried anything like that before and they had a nice taste to them with a little bit of heat. They were very good.Once we tried them they were very addicting and we ate the entire bag. Oops.
This gourmet nut mix was christened "evil" by a local chef, because he couldn't stop eating them! They've been known as Evil Nuts ever since.
Slightly sweet, with a spicy kick, veryEVILnutsTM are a handmade mix of whole pecans and walnuts, with a light caramelized coating of brown sugar and spices. Crystallized ginger adds that gourmet touch.
For those customers who would prefer a less spicy treat, we also have EVILnutsTM - the same delicious recipe, with a lot less heat.
EVILnutsTM and veryEVILnutsTM are made to order, with no added preservatives. Please store in an airtight container.
Ingredients: Pecans, Walnuts, Brown Sugar (Cane Caramel Color), Butter (Cream, Salt),Crystallized Ginger (Cane Sugar), Spices, Salt.
EVILnutsTM and veryEVILnutsTM are sold in 8 ounce bags. veryEVILnuts - $9.50

The next product we tried were the Karma Krumbles

They are  Toasty, Crunchy, Granola nuggets. They too were very tasty. The kids didn't like them too much, but that was just them. The adults here, meaning my Boyfriend and I loved them. I am a huge granola fan. And this was something different from just pouring some granola in a bowl and adding milk. The nuggets were a nice size and you just pick one up and eat it.

Finally the last product we tried was the Karma Krunch Muffins

Now let me tell you, these muffins were absolutely delicious. This was my entire family's favorite of the 3 products we reviewed. All we had to do was add Vanilla, Water, Eggs, and Vegetable Oil, mix it up, put their special topping mix over the mixture, and bake them and presto! A fabulous Muffin! We found that these muffins make a great snack any time of day. I really think this muffin mix would be a great gift idea for any occasion.

karma krunch™ Muffin Mix is the perfect breakfast or brunch treat and makes a healthy, all natural snack. Add eggs, water, oil and vanilla, top with the separate karma krunch topping mix, bake in muffin tins, and you'll have a moist, crunchy muffin made with organic whole wheat flour, oats, nuts, seeds and dried fruit. Healthy and delicious!

Ingredients: King Arthur organic whole wheat flour, karma krunch™ (rolled oats, almonds, walnuts, coconut, sunflower seeds, raisins, dried apricots [sulphur dioxide], sesame seeds, pure maple syrup, canola oil, brown sugar, flax seed), dried cranberries, sugar, baking powder, salt.

My overall take, I would definitely recommend Brynn & Amie products to anyone who loves to try something different, that tastes great!

TruKid Review and {Giveaway!} Ends 11/14 (CLOSED)

Recently I found a great company that makes Natural Body Care For Kids. What is the name of this company you ask? TruKid!!! They are a company that's goal is to spread the word about helping our kids create healthy habits. starting with their skin, but also want the kids to have fun while using their products as well. That is why they use brightly colored bottles, use fun product names, and employ a simple symbol system that kids can easily recognize. All of their products are Natural, Non-Toxic, and Safe for them and always FREE of Parabens, Phthalates, Gluten, BPA, SLS, 1-4 Dioxzane and Fragrances. That is great to know huh? I think so!
We received 3 products for review. All Natural Silly Shampoo, All Natural Happy Face & Body Lotion, and Sunny Days SPF 30+.

First we tried out the All Natural Silly Shampoo. It was a huge hit in our house and the favorite of the 3. My kids loved the name! It produced a nice rich lather as you can see in the picture above. It left her hair clean and smelling very nice. After using it for a week, there was no build up left in her hair, and it always looked clean, and never looked greasy or oily.It is also very easy to wash out, and my Daughter is kind of a wimp when it comes to Shampoo getting in her eyes, but with this product, it was so easy to use, and we didn't have any issues.

Next my Son wanted to use some of the All Natural Happy Face & Body Lotion. This too had a wonderful smell to it, and it was thick enough to spread around and left his body well moisturized. I've been using it on myself as well, and I love it.

Lastly we tried the Sunny Days SPF 30+ . Since it is mid October here in Indiana, we haven't had a whole lot of warm sunny days. But we did go to a festival this past weekend, so I applied this to each of my kids faces, it protected them well. Neither of them had a hint of a sunburn. It was a bit windy so I think it also helped against the wind too. This was a very light, not too greasy product, which to me, is a very good thing. There is nothing I hate more than a Sunscreen that is really greasy and hard to wash off later.

Overall, I would recommend all three of these products to anyone! They are all great and my kids liked them as well.

Jamba All Natural Smoothies At Home Review and {Giveaway!} 2 Winners! Ends 11/10 (CLOSED)

Recently I was able to try out Jamba All Natural Smoothies . Umm I must say, they tasted just like I remember getting them when I was a kid. But now you can simply make them at home. I had the opportunity to try out the Caribbean Passion and Razzmatazz. Both Flavors were amazing. But we liked the Caribbean Passion the best.
These Smoothie kits are so incredibly easy to make.
  • First you just empty the contents of the bag into your blender
  • Pour 8 ounces of Apple Juice over the "REAL" Fruit pieces
  • Pulse for 20 seconds
  • Blend for One Minute. Easy Peasy.

Before everything was blended together.

The Smoothies were not runny, and had a very nice texture. But the flavor was my favorite part.

My Daughter Enjoying her Smoothie.

Now for a secret, I love Smoothies, and this brand definitely is one of the best I have tasted, especially for being an "At Home" one. These are so easy to whip up, as I stated above, and add to a meal, or drink as a healthy snack option.
